Responders Ready If Rail Mishap Occurs

More than 200 freight trains travel through the metro area each week, some comprised solely of tank cars.

Milwaukee Fire Department Deputy Chief Aaron Lipski says emergency responders are specially trained to handle train derailments, including ruptured tank cars transporting hazardous cargo through urban areas.

Recent rail mishaps, including tragic derailments in Canada and Texas have put the focus on rail safety here and in other urban centers.
