Cory Chisel and his band, the Wandering Sons, got to play some pretty impressive venues following the release of his recent album, “Old Believers.”  And soon, they’ll be off for Europe and Australia.  But in among the many tour dates were a couple of important midwestern concerts – in northern Minnesota and in Appleton, the places Chisel grew up, the son of a preacher.

Milwaukee Native McGinn Familiar Face in Courthouse

Neil McGinn has represented thousands of clients as a public defender in Milwaukee for decades.

Neil McGinn was born and raised in Milwaukee, then headed to California for law school. While there, he worked in the Oakland-Alameda County public defender's office, and it ignited a passion. He pursued a career defending people who could not afford legal representation. When McGinn was offered a public defender job back in his hometown, he grabbed it.

UPDATE: Husband Charged with Killing Wauwatosa Police Officer

Jennifer Sebena's husband is being held on $1 million cash bond.

The 30-year-old husband of slain Wauwatosa police officer Jennifer Sebena was charged Thursday with shooting her to death on Christmas Eve, while she was on duty. Ben Gabriel Sebena is being held on $1 million cash bond.

According to the criminal complaint, Ben Sebena was jealous of his wife’s relationships with other men. He allegedly stalked her for several days before killing her, and allegedly had held a gun to her head a few weeks before her death.

Lester Carter has owned his drug store at 24th and Burleigh since 1967.

Customers stream in and out of Carter’s Drug Store on 24th and Burleigh in Milwaukee.

The store is more than just a place to get a prescription filled, according to owner Lester Carter. He supplies everyone with healthy doses of respect and re-assurance. Those have been the ingredients of his figurative elixir, since he bought the business in 1967 after arriving here from Omaha, Nebraska.
