Kaleka Brothers Remember Their Father, His Faith

Amardeep (left) and Pardeep Kaleka, the sons of Satwant Singh Kaleka, the president of the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, who died in last week's shootings.

Sikhs have returned to their Oak Creek temple, for the first time since the shootings that killed six worshippers, and injured four others.

Amardeep and Pardeep Kaleka helped organize this morning’s memorial service. They’re the sons of the temple president, Satwant Singh Kaleka, who died fighting off the gunman.

The brothers talked with WUWM’s Ann-Elise Henzl yesterday about their father, and his faith.

Bringing Together Communities of Faith After Temple Shootings

The Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee is working to bridge the gap between communities of faith.

Visitation is going on this morning in Oak Creek for the victims of Sunday’s shootings at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin. Six temple-goers were killed in shootings by Wade Michael Page of Cudahy before Page reportedly killed himself.

Hundreds Pay Respects, Led by Family Members and Dignitaries

People from near and far honor the victims of tragedy.

Family members of the six people slain at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, shared their grief and consolation Friday and offered reflections on their loved ones to a crowd of hundreds gathered in the Oak Creek High School gymnasium. Dignitaries, including U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder expressed condolences to the community during the joint funeral for the six.

Thousands Mourn Sikh Temple Members at Joint Funeral

The line of mourners extended out the door of Oak Creek High School.

There was a huge outpouring of love and support in Oak Creek today, as the six worshippers a gunman shot and killed at the Sikh Temple Sunday were laid to rest. As WUWM’s Marti Mikkelson reports, a couple thousand people turned out for the public wake and service at Oak Creek High School. Those in grief were surrounded, and they, in turn, encouraged others.
