The question cinema has tried to answer time and time again, with the most recent attempt by the movie Arrival, may finally have an answer as astronomer Jean Creighton provides promising new hope for whether life can exist beyond earth. “There could be life right now in the solar system unbeknownst to us,” says Creighton.

While Wisconsin is known as the Dairy State, perhaps a better moniker would be: the Land of Milk and Manure. With more than 1.2 million dairy cows in Wisconsin, the state is inundated with trillions of pounds of manure every year.

But Wisconsin is not alone. The proliferation of large-scale farming in the United States and throughout the globe has left many communities dealing with a poop predicament.

On Monday, former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn indicated he would not cooperate with at least one investigation into Trump’s ties with Russia. Flynn’s attorney cited the 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination. We asked a few people in downtown Milwaukee what they think of the unfolding saga.

True Swiss-style cheese that is made in Wisconsin may seem unlikely. While the Dairy State has produced quality cheese for over a century, mastering Swiss-style cheese-making requires near-perfect conditions. Fresh off a trip to Schuman's Cheeses near northern Wisconsin’s Turtle Lake, Jeanette Hurt found that Wisconsin cheese makers are creating products similar to the highly sought-after Alpine cheeses of Switzerland.

Tuesday night, an organization whose work is tied specifically toward civil discourse, honors the legacy of its namesake.  The Zeidler Legacy event highlights not just the power of facilitated dialogue, but Milwaukee's mayor who served from 1948 to 1960. Frank Zeidler was the last Socialist mayor of a major American city and spent much of his life after leaving office as a mediator of disputes.

Update, May 22: Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, who says the Dept. of Homeland Security plans to appoint him as an assistant secretary, is blasting reporter Andrew Kaczynski who claims Clarke plagiarized sections of his master's thesis on homeland security. The report that CNN carried over the weekend cites close to 50 instances in Clarke's 2013 thesis where it seems he failed to put quotation marks around statements he took almost verbatim from other sources.
