Album of the Week: Liz Longley

www.lizlongley.com

Honest transparency isn’t the easiest thing to come by in musicians these days. Often times, music is shrouded by a façade to fit a certain image or appeal. This is definitely not the case with singer/songwriter LizLongley. The Nashville-based artist takes pride in the honesty of each track she writes. Having lived in and out of minivans for a large part of her musical journey; she never has a shortage of true stories to depict.

Her songwriting abilities are only the beginning of what this extremely talented musician has to offer. With a vocal range that rivals the most prominent voices in the industry and acoustic guitar skills to compliment; Longley is a stand-out. Since graduating from the Berklee College of Music, she has managed to win a wide range of awards as well as accolades from the likes of John Mayer and Paula Cole.

Her newest, self-titled project is just around the corner. Set for a March 17th release, the new album tackles the last few years of Longley’s journey. Songs like, ‘Outta My Head’ and ‘This Is Not The End’, provide a crutch for anyone looking to get past a state of melancholy. Her ability to not only provide a template of struggle to listeners, but also to give you a means to overcome them is what makes the music more than just a song.

Tune in to WUWM@Nite this week as we air two songs off of the upcoming album, ‘Outta My Head’ and ‘Bad Habit’. You can also check out the acoustic version of her song ‘Peace of Mind’ below.
