The Avalon Theater in Bay View plans to auction off vintage equipment, including projectors, popcorn machines and seats.

Online bidding begins March 13 at noon - and continues for a week. People can walk through the theater on Sat., March 16 from 9 A.M. - 4 P.M., to view items on the auction block.Once they are purchased and removed from the premises, owner Lee Barczak will begin renovating the historic theater, as he has done with the Rosebud Cinema Drafthouse in Wauwatosa and the Times Cinema on Milwaukee's west side.

Alderman Tony Zielinski says he's pleased the Avalon plans to reopen. "We are bucking the trend and opening up a shuttered theater that stands to be a real gem for the Bay View neighborhood,” Zielinski said.
