EAA Wants Court to Reverse FAA Charge for Fly-In

The FAA has billed the EAA nearly $450,000 for the cost of air traffic controllers.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the fee will cover the cost for 87 air traffic controllers and their supervisors to work at the annual Experimental Aircraft Association's AirVenture convention in Oshkosh. It’s scheduled for July 29-August 4.

The EAA already paid part of the fee, with plans to pay the rest after the convention. However, on Wednesday the EAA filed a petition with a U.S. Court of Appeals in Chicago, asking for the money to be returned, and the charge erased.

A spokesman for the FAA said on Friday that he cannot comment on pending legal actions.
