Ex Fabula: Adventures with Children

Art Montes
Storyteller Elaine Maly

Happy New Year from all of us at Ex Fabula! We’re excited about 2018, and have a January full of workshops and events that we hope will inspire you to try something new this year.  Although if you just want to hear some great stories, maybe our New Year Spectacular StorySlam is more you speed.

For this week's show, we have stories of two things that go well together: children and adventures.

Elaine Maly used to raft all the time - when she was thirty years younger. So when she decided to take her 12-year-old grandson along for an end-of-summer white water rafting trip, she knew it could get interesting.  With six other amateur rafters, as well as a guide, the troupe set off.  It was smooth sailing - that is, until they hit some serious waves. What happened next was something you only see “once in a blue moon” - and Elaine has the video to prove it. Listen to her how they made it through the whitewater.

Storyteller Dan Niederloh

Dan Niederloh was a pretty easy-going guy, living a simple life. In fact, at one point, he could fit everything he owned into a backpack.  That's when his girlfriend - who had told him she was infertile - announced she was pregnant.  The couple quickly starting preparing for parenthood, but Dan wondered if he was truly ready.  So, was he?
