Ex Fabula: All Stars Preview

Art Montes
Storyteller Barbara Leigh

We’re only a few short weeks away from our Ex Fabula season finale, the Season 8 Ex Fabula ALL STARS StorySlam on May 18th! That’s right, the time has flown by and soon the May flowers will greet us along with the gaggle of Audience Favorites from Season 8, who have some “Unfinished Business” they’d like to share. In the coming weeks, we’ll feature the stories that won these tellers the velvet crown, and giving you a taste of what you can expect on May 18th.

September 2016 may seem like a far-off memory, but we remember it well. Ex Fabula kicked off Season 8 at Garfield's 502 as the sun went down the stories got hotter with, Season 7 Audience Favorite, Jen Hoepner taking to the stage to share a story of college canoodling, indecent exposure and…false identity? Listen in to Jen’s story, which won her the Audience Favorite at our “Risking It” StorySlam.

Our October 2016 StorySlam took us to a new and exciting venue as we explored the Milwaukee Public Museum’s new "Hidden Wisconsin" exhibit before settling in to for an evening of “Hidden” stories from audience members and a few museum staff. Ex Fabula newbie Barbara Leigh took the coveted crown, with her “Hidden” story, featuring an art museum, locked doors, a lost purse and an international flight. Barbara’s story was a little Nancy Drew, a little MacGyver and a lot of Ex Fabula. Tune in to hear how it all turned out:

Hey, there’s still one more chance for you, yes you, to share your own true, personal story on the Ex Fabula stage. You can even get some help crafting it. We still have two storytelling workshops before the May 4th MKE BIG READ “Courage” Storytelling Event at Central Library. Check out ExFabula.org for more information and show your “courage” on our stage!
