Ex Fabula: Circle Of Life

Art Montes
Brooke Maroldi shares a story.

This week’s Ex Fabula segment began as a healthcare-themed episode. However, as we revisited the stories by Matthew Konkel and Brooke Maroldi, we realized that more than healthcare, these two stories had were two very different experiences in the circle of life.

Matthew Konkel up on-stage.

From a young age, Matthew Konkel knew that while he enjoyed other people’s children, being a father was not in his life plans. At our December 2013 Story Spectacular, Bad Company, Matthew took us on his sometimes-humorous journey to permanently rid himself of the possibility of fatherhood, by eradicating his “little soldiers,” which he had come to think of as very bad company.

From new life to near death, Brooke Maroldi took us on a very different journey when she took the stage for our October 2014 Crossing Over event. When self-described “middle-aged, over-weight, smoker” Brooke was rushed to the hospital with chest pains and lost consciousness, the hospital staff worked valiantly as Brooke lingered somewhere between life and death. When she woke, she carried with her a memory of her deceased father and being suspended in a “black velvet ocean.” What else did she bring back? Tune in to find out.

We have one more month left before our May All-Star show. That means you have one more chance to take the stage and maybe take home the title of audience favorite. Mark your calendars for April 16th at Hot Water Wherehouse.

We have the stage. You have the story. Let’s share.
