In honor of Valentine’s Day, Ex Fabula looks back on two very different love stories with two very different endings.
In February 2013, Andrew Larsen took the stage at our It’s a Date Story Slam. What started out as a typical night at the movies with friends, soon turned into an awkward blind date and ended with the most bizarre of love triangles and a declaration, “I will never play matchmaker again!”
Moving onto a happier ending, we have Dulce Lagunas. Dulce braved the stage at our December 2014 Spectacular, Surprise/Sorpresa, our first bilingual storytelling event. As part of the Puente project, a partnership with CORE/El Centro and UWM Translation and Interpreting Program with support from UWM Cultures and Communities, Dulce shared (through translator Abby Varela), the joyful story of her surprise Valentine’s engagement. Soon after the engagement, luck was definitely on her side when she won an all-inclusive Las Vegas trip. But as Dulce planned a trip of stage shows and lucky slots, her fiancé was busy planning the sorpresa of a lifetime!
