Friday on Lake Effect: Elimination of Amtrak Routes, 'La La Land' Composer, Frozen Custard Science

Friday on Lake Effect:

We look at how the elimination of long-distance Amtrak routes could have a ripple effect throughout the country. A Milwaukee-raised composer talks about his work on the award-winning score of La La Land. We learn about transgender activist Lou Sullivan from local author Brice Smith, and we find out why there’s always an advantage to eating frozen custard fresh out of the machine.

Guests:

  • Jim Mathews, president and CEO, National Association of Rail Passengers
  • Justin Hurwitz, composer, score of La La Land
  • Brice Smith, author, Lou Sullivan: Daring to be a man Among Men
  • Bill Klein, plant manager, Babcock Hall Dairy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
