A strong third quarter helped Harley's comeback from the 2008 economic meltdown.

Harley-Davidson logged a double digit earnings increase during this year's third quarter.

Strong sales in the U.S. and abroad helped Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson increase earnings 21 percent in the third quarter of 2013. The popularity of the company's new model line up is credited with fueling the sales and earning growth. The company posted net income of $162.7 million, up from $134 million a year ago. Harley matched Wall Street's expectations for the quarter.
