Hayward Williams: Live at Anodyne Coffee

In our interview with Hayward Williams last month, he discussed his attempts to diffuse anxiety both on and off the stage. He started performing songs in a lower key, slower tempo and even putting himself in sensory isolation before shows. These struggles seemed entirely distant from the stage that Williams stood on to celebrate the release of his new album, The Reef.

Williams’s voice is at times soulful and full of conviction, and at others soft and pensive. His three-piece accompaniment is mindful of this, playing delicately in songs like “Under Control” and “I Was in Love” and more rollicking with the gospel-sounds of “High Street.”

In this 40-minute set, Williams invites listeners to “be a part of the healing." Listen in to the uplifting performance here:
