Hugh Bob & The Hustle: Songs From the North Country

Singer-songwriter Hugh Robert Masterson invites anyone doubting his claim to country music to take a ride home with him to Butternut, Wisconsin. It’s a quaint but fading town in the far north of the state, the sign reading: Population 375. With his band, Hugh Bob and The Hustle, Masterson has brought the sound of authentic North Country to the city of Milwaukee.

After working for years with other bands, including Jaill and The Wildbirds, Masterson decided to step up and front his own band. Hugh Bob and the Hustle have one self-titled album, and they’ll be heading on the road this weekend for a tour out west.

Tonight, though, they’ll play at Turner Hall Ballroom for the fundraiser Rockin to Fight Childhood Cancer and Benefit “Concert for MACC," at 7pm. Ben Conrad filled us in on the event.

The band is: Hugh Robert Masterson, Nicholas Stuart, Bradley Kruse, Quinn Scharber and Justin Krol. Ben Conrad with the Concert 4 MACC benefit joined us, as well. Jon Strelecki engineered this session.
