'The Immigrant Story' In Word and Song

Andy Stenz
Bel Canto Chorus

Milwaukee’s Bel Canto Chorus has been making music for almost 90 years. The organization offers local singers a chance to perform a wide choral repertoire at a high standard.

As a part of the community in which it performs, the group has always presented concerts that reflect on current events. This Wednesday’s concert, The Immigrant Story, is no exception.

Conceived by artistic director Richard Hynson, the performance will present a range of choral works that either directly speak to the immigrant experience, or to the stories narrated by Mary Alice Tierney.

Tierney says concerts like this help us remember our roots:

"What we’re living today is an echo of what all of our grandparents, great-grandparents, great-great grandparents experienced. It’s a story that needs to be told over and over and over again so that we don’t forget that we are a nation of immigrants."
