It’s Official: State Sen. Glenn Grothman is the GOP Nominee for Tom Petri’s House Seat

Aug 22, 2014

Glenn Grothman won last week’s Republican primary in the 6th CD by just more than 200 votes, prompting some to predict a recount was likely.

Longtime state lawmaker Glenn Grothman hopes to take over for Congressman Tom Petri, who’s retiring after more than three decades in the House

Fellow state Sen. Joe Leibham took second place in the four-way contest. He announced Friday that he’s decided not to request a recount, “after a review of the official election results and prayerful consideration” with his family.

Grothman will face Winnebago County Executive Mark Harris, a Democrat, at the polls in November.
