Jenny Kehl: A New Director for the UWM Center for Water Policy

UW-Milwaukee has taken another step towards increasing the region's prominence as a center for freshwater research. Jenny Kehl starts work this week as the director for the UWM Center for Water Policy. Kehl comes to Milwaukee from Rutgers University in New Jersey, where she taught at the graduate level in public policy and political science. The position is part of UWM's graduate-level School of Freshwater Sciences.

The Center and the director position were both endowed by a 2-point-6 million dollar gift from Lynde Uihlein. It comes as the Milwaukee region as a whole is trying to develop the concept of a so-called "water hub." Community leaders hope to attract leaders in water research, public policy, and technology, all with an aim towards helping the world develop more a more sustainable approach to freshwater use. Kehl spoke with WUWM environmental reporter Susan Bence.
