Lake Effect On-Site: Bay View

WUWM is hitting the road for the Lake Effect: On-Site series, and we’re putting the “pub” back in public radio. Come out to Enlightened Brewery & Twisted Path Distillery in Bay View for the first stop of 2018. We’re peeling back the curtain and showing you how Lake Effect is made. The event will feature Chef AJ Dixon from Lazy Susan in Bay View, beer expert Kathy Flanigan, historian Ron Winkle, local poet Jenny Benjamin, and singer-songwriter Willy Porter (who wrote the Lake Effect theme music). Doors open at 6:30 and there will be a free, attendee-only distillery tour after the show.

Guests:

  • John Gurda is a Milwaukee-native and local historian. He is the author of several books on Milwaukee history, including The Making of Milwaukee and Milwaukee: City of Neighborhoods. Gurda is also a tour guide and lecturer, who writes a history column for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

  • Ron Winkler is the author of Images of America: Bay View. He is a member of the Bay View Historical Society and the historian landmark chair for the organization. Winkler writes for the Historical Society's newsletter, as well as those of other preservation groups. He is a lecturer, tour guide, and author of a series of nine walking tour brochures of Bay View.

  • AJ Dixon is the chef and owner of Lazy Susan in Bayview. Dixon completed a culinary program at MATC and worked in restaurants around the city, before opening Lazy Susan in 2014.
