Milwaukee County Finances Improve

Milwaukee County is in much better shape financially than in recent years, as leaders begin forming the 2014 budget. However, challenges remain, including in terms of funding mental health services and transit, according to Rob Henken, president of the Public Policy Forum and former county budget analyst.

Henken told us that for the first time he can remember, Milwaukee ended last year, in the black.

He  says the county continues to face costly challenges. Those include caring for the mental health needs of some residents and tackling delayed park projects.
