Milwaukee County Republican Party Brings in Heavy Hitters

Two of the three Republicans hoping to become the next president made a campaign stop in Milwaukee on Friday night. Ohio Governor John Kasich and Texas Senator Ted Cruz made their case as to why they should be the GOP nominee.

It was standing room only with more than 750 people in attendance at Serb Hall for the Milwaukee County Republican Presidential dinner. Kasich took the stage first; followed by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who is on the campaign trail for Donald Trump; and then Ted Cruz.

Cruz told the crowd that the way Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker took on union bosses is the way he plans to take on special interest as president. “I want to tell you it inspired millions of Americans across this country, it inspired me. And it demonstrated that when we the people stand together we can beat the special interest that are banking out kids and grandkids,” he said.

Earlier this week, Gov. Walker through his support behind Cruz.

Cruz told the audience that he’s running because there’s a lot at stake. "We’re here tonight because our country's in crisis. Because our constitutional rights are under assault each and every day and because America has receded from leadership in the world. And it’s made the world a much more dangerous pace,” he said.

Cruz  said his campaign is about hope and encouragement.

The latest Marquette poll shows Cruz leading GOP front runner Donald Trump in Wisconsin.
