Milwaukeeans Get Real About Race

Michelle Maternowski

Monday, the U.S. remembers the life and work of Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King, Junior. Last August, on the 50th anniversary of his famous “I Have a Dream” speech, we brought together a few Milwaukeeans to talk about the state of race relations here. The city is often cited as among the most segregated in the country and having a high rate of black male joblessness and incarceration. In honor of MLK Day, we revisit the discussion featuring Alex Runner, Tracey Johnson, Nick Reindl, Keith Stanley, Thomas Kelly and Angela Walker.
