Milwaukee's Paper Holland Serves Up a Tropical Dish With "Galápagos"

Paper Holland
Galápagos is Paper Holland's second full-length album."

It’s been a full six years since the Milwaukee band, Paper Holland, released its last full-length album.  But the group never went away in that time - they played for a growing fan base, released an EP, and built anticipation for whenever the next album would come out.

Well, that time is at hand. With the start of June, “Galápagos” officially comes out, and offers a soundtrack to a tropical summer – in Milwaukee, the Galápagos Islands, or wherever you listen. According to the members of Paper Holland, that summer feel was both intentional – and organic as the album came together.

“Part of it is just the name,” says guitarist and singer Joe Tomcheck.  “It kind of cues you into this tropical vibe.  We also start off the record with this ambient beach noise, and waves and birds, and stuff like that.  So I think we definitely set out to establish that vibe, but beyind that, you kind of know a summer jam when you hear it.”

Paper Holland plays a release show for "Galápagos" Friday night, June 1st, at Anodyne Coffee in Walker's Point.
