'MXE: Milwaukee Mixed' Allows Choreographers, Musicians, & Artists to Stretch Their Wings

The soundscape that you hear when you click on the audio for this post was composed especially for Pull, a dance work premiering tonight at the Pabst Theatre. The piece was choreographed by Milwaukee Ballet Leading Artist Nicole Teague-Howell, and the composer is MIAD grad and Milwaukee based artist, Luxi. It was the first time they had worked together and Teague-Howell says it was a wonderful opportunity to stretch their artistic wings:

"It's a newfound freedom to become someone else, to grow as a dancer, as a person, and as a choreographer," she says. "If I ever had this opportunity again, I would love to work with Luxi and we could almost make something completely different."

Luxi agrees wholeheartedly: "Yeah, I feel like we're not scared to go outside the box so we can really push the boundaries."

Their collaboration is one part of an evening of new dances presented by the Ballet called MXE: Milwaukee Mixed, running at the Pabst Theatre through Sunday.
