Researcher: People Oversimplify Things When It Comes to Weight Loss

Obesity is what many people tackle first when it comes to the effort to lead a more healthy life. 

The statistics about the prevalence of obesity in this country are striking, but researcher ChristyGreenleaf believes we may be oversimplifying things when it comes to the importance of losing weight. She’s a professor of Kinesiology at UW-Milwaukee.

"I think the focus on weight as the only indicator of health is certainly problematic," Greenleaf says. "And we need to be mindful of that and really think of, are there other ways of assessing health that we can look at in terms of positive indications of the result of behavior change?"
