An effort going on this week in Milwaukee has similar goals.
Jeffery Roman is Benchmark Coordinator for Minority Male Achievement for Community Advocates’ Public Policy Institute and Joyce Mallory is the organization development consultant for the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee. They’re also organizers for Milwaukee’s Boys and Men of Color Week, which runs through this week.
Roman and Mallory join Lake Effect's Mitch Teich to talk Boys and Men of Color Week and the need they believe it fulfills in Milwaukee.
There are challenges for Milwaukee's boys and men of color, but some say it's not for lack of community effort. "We are rich in resources, rich in programs," Roman says. "We lack the coordination, the communication, and the authentic will and ability to collaborate and coordinate resources."
