Thursday on Lake Effect: Global Nuclear Disarmament, The Flying Dutchman, Mathematical Thinking

Thursday on Lake Effect:

An expert in global nuclear disarmament says we are making great progress in reducing the numbers of atomic weapons globally. But there are still more than 15,000 of them remaining between the United States and Russia alone. Then, we talk with some cast members of the Florentine Opera’s production of Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman. And we clear up a common misconception about mathematicians.

Guests:

  • Joseph Cirincione, president, Ploughshares Fund
  • Joseph Rescigno, Florentine Opera conductor; Jenni Bank, David Danholt, Wayne Tigges, and Peter Volpe, singers in The Flying Dutchman
  • Jordan Ellenberg, mathematician and author
