Thursday on Lake Effect: New Orleans Schools, Northern Lights, Peeps Art Exhibit

Thursday on Lake Effect:

Some tout New Orleans as a model for how to fix public schools, but others say it’s a model of what not to do. Plus, our astronomy contributor gives us a primer on the Northern Lights and how they work. A local group helps aspiring singers bridge the gap between school and professional life, and the unique challenges faced by the artists entering the Racine Art Museum’s annual marshmallow Peeps art exhibition.

Guests:

  • Kristen Buras, associate professor of Educational Policy Studies at Georgia State University in Atlanta; Karran Harper Royal, education advocate in New Orleans & Reynard Sanders, former teacher and school administrator who has also hosted a radio talk show on education
  • Jean Creighton, Manfred Olson Planetarium at UW-Milwaukee
  • Devere Burnett, Kalliope Vocal Arts
  • Bruce Pepich, Racine Art Museum
