Walker to Donate Campaign Money He Received from Group Cited in Racist Manifesto

Earl P. Holt, leader of the Council of Conservative Citizens has reportedly donated $3,500 to Gov. Walker since 2011. The alleged racist manifesto that Dylann Roof created - the young white man accused of murdering nine black people at a church in Charleston last week, credits the group with influencing his thoughts.

Gov. Walker's campaign says he will donate the money to charity.

According to The Guardian, Holt has donated $65,000 to Republican politicians, in recent times. The newspaper says Sen. Ted Cruz will return the $8,500 he received, and the campaigns of Sen. Rand Paul and Rick Santorum will donate the money Holt gave them, to a fund assisting the families of the Charleston victims.

Gannett Wisconsin Media reports that two other Wisconsin politicians will donate money their campaigns received from Holt. The amounts include $1,000 from Rep. Paul Ryan and $1,250 from Sen. Ron Johnson.

Holt posted a statement online stating that his group is "hardly responsible for the actions" of a "deranged individual" and does not condone illegal activities.
