If Wisconsin Republicans voted in their presidential primary today, 25% would pick Gov. Scott Walker, according to the new Marquette Law School Poll. In April, 40% said they would select Walker.
Most state GOP voters favor other Republican candidates. Following Walker (25%) are Ben Carson (13%), Donald Trump (9%), Ted Cruz (8%), Marco Rubio and Carly Fiorina (each 7%) and Jeb Bush (6%).
As for Gov. Walker's job approval rating among Wisconsin voters, it has fallen slightly since April. It now stands at 39% favorable/57% unfavorable; versus April's rating of 41% favorable/56% unfavorable.
The poll's margin of error is 4.3%. The survey was conducted between Aug. 13-16.
In a potential showdown between Walker and Dem. Hillary Clinton, Clinton leads 52%-42%.
The only presidential candidate with a net favorable rating among Wisconsin voters is Dem. Bernie Sanders.
As for the U.S. Senate race between incumbent Republican Senator Ron Johnson and former Democratic Senator Russ Feingold, the race has tightened since April. Feingold leads among Wisconsin voters 47%-42%; in April his edge was 54%-38%.
