Wednesday on Lake Effect: Genetic Testing, Doors Open Milwaukee, Milwaukee Public Theatre

Wednesday on Lake Effect:

If you could learn whether you were more likely to develop a life-threatening disease, would you want to know that information? And who would you tell the results? The science of genetics has often outpaced the ethical questions associated with it, and we’ll talk about why that matters with a leading bioethicist. Later, a performance and art exhibit opening this weekend builds off of a project that engages homebound seniors with their community. Plus, a preview of this year’s Doors Open Milwaukee, and we’ll look back at 40 years of the Milwaukee Public Theatre.

Guests:

  • Robert Klitzman, Columbia University bioethicist and author, Am I My Genes?
  • Anne Basting, UWM and Islands of Milwaukee; Kara Grennier and Wayne Budzien, Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin
  • Amy Grau, Doors Open Milwaukee
  • Barbara Lee, Milwaukee Public Theatre; Ron Scot Fry and Susan Scot Fry, Optimist Theatre
