Those who frequent Fourth Street in Milwaukee may be familiar with the plaques featuring athletes, which are mounted alongside the UWM Panther Arena. They are the most visible part of the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame, one of the oldest state organizations to honor athletes in the country.

"I think it's important to our state's history to remember and to honor these people that meant so much, not just from an athletic standpoint, but really how it's tied into the fabric of our community," says Brian Lammi, executive director of the organization.

This year’s honorees include professional golfer Sherri Steinhauer, former Wisconsin Badger football player Ron Dayne and former Packer Charles Woodson. Longtime baseball commissioner Bud Selig will receive a lifetime achievement award, as well.
