Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker Wins Second Term

The race was not close as many polls had predicted. Gov. Walker handily defeated Democrat Mary Burke, with not much suspense, as votes were tallied.

Walker won his first term as Wisconsin governor in 2010, then survived a recall attempt in 2012 - over his move to strip away public union rights.

During the campaign, Burke emphasized Walker's failure to create 250,000 private sector jobs, as he had promised when first taking office. She also criticized him for politically dividing the state.

Walker insisted he had begun turning around the state's economy following the recession, cut taxes and gave local governments more control over their budgets.
