It appears Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is facing resistance from fellow Republicans in accomplishing a big item on his “to do” list: the state budget.

The race was not close as many polls had predicted. Gov. Walker handily defeated Democrat Mary Burke, with not much suspense, as votes were tallied.

Election clerks will count absentee ballots, after regular finishing with those cast in person on Tuesday, Election Day.

Wisconsinites won’t be the only people interested in the results of Tuesday’s election.

The latest Marquette Law School poll shows Gov. Scott Walker leading his Democratic challenger Mary Burke, 50 to 43 percent among likely voters.
