The summer edition of Gallery Night and Day is almost upon us. Artists of all kinds, along with gallery owners, will be showcasing work at multiple venues around town.

Looking for something to do this weekend that's free and features original local art and music? Well....then plug this address into your GPS: 2625 S. Greeley Street – that’s in Bayview – and get ready to hit the Hide House this Saturday for the 5th annual Artbeat in the Heat event. It takes place from 12pm to 10pm, rain or shine.

The founder and CEO of the event, AnnieB, stopped by the studio to speak with WUWM's Rachel Owens to explain what makes this art and music festival unique, and how it's grown since 2009.

The Bronzeville Arts Ensemble is celebrating Bronzeville Week with a special performance tonight at 7pm, at King Drive Commons Gallery & Studio on 2775 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. The ensemble will present an evening of poems, monologues, songs, and scenes inspired by the Bronzeville jazz era.

The finals for an exciting sporting event is coming to a head in Milwaukee this Friday: Bandsketball.

Christopher McIntyre Perceptions, the creator Br(OK)en Genius, writes in his project’s manifesto:

“As a 24 year old young black male, I technically have less than one year to beat or become a part of the 'dead or in jail' statistic….Only when what is broken comes to light can the broken heal.”

Two new temporary art projects will appear on West Wisconsin Avenue this summer, as part of the 'Creational Trails project.
