Eleven explorers paddling five canoes down the Mississippi River are coming ever closer to their goal. Our virtual guide Martha Brummitt checks in as tje Paddle Forward crew approaches the state of Mississippi.

Today is day sixteen of a 10-week canoe expedition the length of the Mississippi River. We check in.

Nine days ago, five canoes launched from the northern shores of the Mississippi River. We catch up with one of the paddlers – a Whitefish Bay native - as they navigate along the river.

This morning five sleek canoes slipped into Lake Itasca, the headwaters of the Mississippi. A member of the crew paddling the length of the river is a Whitefish Bay native.
