The Green Bay Packers will play perhaps the most-anticipated football game of the weekend on Sunday night. They're undefeated and they'll play the Denver Broncos, who also come into the game without a loss this year. The game features two of football's biggest names, Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Broncos' quarterback Peyton Manning.

Now flash back around a century – 103 years, to be exact. The most anticipated football game of 1912 also pitted undefeated teams against each other, and featured some of the biggest names in sports. But that's where the similarities end.

All evidence in the crash last week of a Germanwings airliner points to the co-pilot deliberately crashing the plane.  But before that evidence came to light, theories abounded about what caused the plane to crash into the French Alps.

In the case of a 2009 Air France flight which crashed en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, it turned out a combination of mechanical failure and poor pilot training was responsible.

People who came of age in the 1980s often think back fondly on those days of skinny knit ties, shoulder pads, and Brat Pack movies.  It’s a period that people coming of age today might think of as, well, thirty years ago.

Earlier this week, Lake Effect previewed the fall arts scene – on stage, in galleries, and more – around Milwaukee.  Today, we turn to the big screen, which is hoping to rebound from a slow summer at the box office.
