Government Shutdown Impacts Family of Killed Milwaukee Soldier

Lead in text:
“Families shouldn’t have to worry about how they’re going to bury their child," Shannon Collins, told NBC News. Her 19-year-old son, Marine Lance Corporal Jeremiah M. Collins Jr. was killed while serving in Afghanistan last weekend. Collins shared her concerns about the delay in government benefits for slain soldiers, because of the federal shutdown. The Defense Dept. is investigating the Milwaukee soldier's death.
Grieving families of fallen U.S. service members are expressing outrage over a lapse in government benefits designed to help them pay for funeral costs or travel to meet the flag-draped coffins of their loved ones.
