Stories about kids, guns and how to stop the violence. Precious Lives, created by 371 Productions, is a 2-year, 100-part weekly radio series about gun violence and young people in the Milwaukee area. The series applies a public health lens to each story to help listeners understand the full scope of the problem: who are the victims and the shooters; how are the weapons obtained; and what can we change about the environment that contributes to violence in Milwaukee?

#041 Precious Lives: Milwaukee Church Moves from Prayer to Action to Prevent Violence

Mike Sears, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Men from All Peoples Church surround 24 year old Isiah Johnson in prayer. It’s a show of solidarity and commitment to keeping Isiah safe after surviving two shootings in one year.";

24-year-old Isiah Johnson was a victim of a shooting not once, but twice in one year.

Each time, hours after leaving the hospital he went straight to All People’s Church in Milwaukee’s Harambee neighborhood. He stood before the congregation and asked for help.

In response the congregation assembled a men’s group to help Isiah find his purpose, and admitted that prayer alone won’t keep Isiah safe.
