For the fourth year in a row, many of Milwaukee's famous city landmarks, and some lesser-known hidden treasures, will be opening their doors to visitors.
This Saturday and Sunday, over 150 buildings throughout the Milwaukee area will be open to the public, free-of-charge.
With so many buildings on the list, how will you decide which ones to visit? We asked Doors Open Milwaukee's Amy Grau to share her list of top sites:
Located at: 2590 S. Superior Street, Bay View, WI
The historic Beulah Brinton House was built in 1872 and retains much of its original Victorian Gothic detailing. This building is now home to the Bay View Historical Society.
Saint Francis de Sales Seminary
Located at: 3257 South Lake Drive, St. Francis, WI (not open on Saturday)
Built in 1855, Saint Francis de Sales Seminary is the oldest Roman Catholic seminary in continuous existence in the United States.
Located by: 4924 W. Roosevelt Drive, Milwaukee, WI
Built in 1939, the building originally operated as a gas station and now is a coffee shop
Sherman Park Commons Senior Living Center
Located at: 3245 N. 37th Street, Milwaukee, WI (not open Sunday)
Originally built as Peckham Junior High School in 1926, the building is now home to senior apartments.
Located at: 601 W. Lincoln Avenue, Milwaukee, WI (not open Saturday)
When the Basilica of St. Josaphat was completed in 1901, the only building in the county with a larger dome was the United States Capitol.
