The Band Scythian Stops In Milwaukee To Play "Immigrant Rock"

Scythian

Ukraine has been in the news quite a bit lately, but not necessarily for its music. Fortunately, the band Scythian is able to remedy that situation with their blend of Ukrainian and Celtic traditions.

It’s energetic music which takes in sounds from Celtic dervish fiddling, and a more mainstream rock tradition, as well.

It all adds up to a sound the members call “immigrant rock,” and it’ll be in the spotlight this week in Milwaukee, as the band plays a show at Turner Hall Ballroom on Thursday.

Ahead of that show, Dan Fedoryka – one of three Fedorykas in the group – joined Bonnie North by phone to a preview of Scythian’s upcoming tour and its upcoming new album.
