Ex Fabula: Only in Milwaukee

Art Montes
Story teller, Sierra, at the January StorySlam "Change of Heart."

Just like that we’ve come to the end of our regular season. That’s right, next Wednesday April 12th will be our last regular StorySlam of Season Seven. But we’re ending it on a high note with a theme we all have a story about: Only in Milwaukee. Not ready to say good-bye to Ex Fabula just yet? Well, we’re not either. Check out what we’re doing with Milwaukee's Big Read and join us for a special bilingual StorySlam in May as well as our Ex Fabula All Stars event, “Unfinished Business.”

Story teller, John Dye, at Bryant's in March 2014.

Our first Milwaukee-themed story comes from John Dye, the proud owner of Bryant’s. John shared how he came to hold that title along with some juicy little historical ditties about old Milwaukee and Bryant’s past at our 2014 Secret Fabula.

From Milwaukee nostalgia to modern day MKE, our next story comes from January’s “Change of Heart” StorySlam and a 19-year-old spoken work artist named Sierra. Sierra never planned on becoming a spoken word artist due to the fact that she hates being on stage. Yet she loved attending Voltage, a teen, slam poetry night, run by a true Milwaukee treasure (and Ex Fabula Vet), Dasha Kelly. Sierra talks about what propelled her to return to the stage.

There’s one last chance for you to tell that story you’ve been waiting to tell. Make it next week! And get your tickets now. This show is sure to sell out!
