Grasping at Straws Brings Back Rustic Americana

Old-school Americana creates an image in our minds of rustic farms, hard working folks doing dirty work, conversation speckled with old-fashioned sayings, and homemade music and entertainment during the evening and weekends.

That is the image that Milwaukee band Grasping at Strawsis trying to recreate in a world of progressive digital technology.

Grasping at Straws sings music written by band member Joshua Backes. The music describes everyday problems that people encounter in their lives and is accompanied by acoustic—not electric—instruments.

Grasping at Straws is a Milwaukee band that performs in Riverwest. They are releasing an album of their folk-inspired music at Linneman'son Saturday September 27th. More information can be found on their facebookpage.
