India's Consul General Attends 4th IndiaFest Milwaukee

Consulate of India/Chicago

This Saturday Humboldt Park comes alive with the sights, sounds, and delicious food smells of IndiaFest Milwaukee. The day-long event is celebrating its 4th anniversary this year, and among the many honored guests attending will be the Consul General of India in Chicago, Dr. Ausaf Sayeed.

Sayeed has a background in the arts and sciences, and has served in India’s foreign service for 25 years. Much of his work during his career has been in promoting Indian culture around the world.

Sayeed says events like India Fest are important both to the diplomatic ties between our two countries and to individual communities like Milwaukee, where both Indians and non-Indians are able to come together.

"People can get glimpses of Indian art and culture, taste Indian cuisine, and it's a good opportunity to know each other."

Sayeed stresses that the desire to communicate and reach out is built into Indian culture.

"One of the qualities of Indians is that we share our knowledge with others," he says. "You know, it's ingrained in our society that what you know should be spread to others."
