Listening to Mitchell: In Our Father's Shadow

Listening to Mitchell

Listening to Mitchell is a public art installation by Sonja Thomsen and Adam Carr. The installation is on Historic Mitchell Street between 5th and 12th Streets.

The artists stop by Lake Effect every Friday, now until the end of September, to share audio postcards from the project.

Among the stories collected on Mitchell Street, there was a consistent presence of strong narratives of fathers and sons. These memories ranged from children clinging to their father’s side on trips to the street to businesses handed down through generations. This piece samples a few of those stories.

Listening to Mitchell's 18-channel immersive audio installation, located at 723 W. Historic Mitchell Street, is open Thursdays and Fridays from 3-6:30 p.m., as well as on Sundays from 2-5 p.m.
