Little League Icon James Beckum to Throw Ceremonial Pitch on Opening Day
Just before the Brewers begin their 2013 season Monday at Miller Park, James Beckum will take the mound. The team has selected him to toss the ceremonial first pitch.
Beckum played in the former Negro Leagues, but he’s known in Milwaukee as the man who started Little League on the north side back in 1964 and - devoted himself to it ever since.
WUWM’s Erin Toner visited Beckum on his ball field in 2008 – here is the report she prepared.
