Milwaukee Area Veterans Remember D-Day

On the 50th anniversary of the D-Day invasion, three Milwaukee area veterans reflected on the impact the day had on them then, and throughout their lives.

A half-century after they participated in the D-Day invasion, three Milwaukee men reflect on their experience in poignant detail.

Today on the 70th anniversary of the Allied invasion in France, we offer recollections of local men who landed in France on D-Day.

Paratroop drops and beach assaults lasted for days as forces made their way inland from such places as Omaha and Utah beaches.

On June 6, 1994, on the 50th anniversary of that monumental effort, we offered the recollections of Henry Ritter and Bob Neuhoffer of Milwaukee and Roland Meka of West Allis.

Each veteran recalled a day long ago still etched in sharp detail.
