Mount Mary Contributes To MAM's Ebony Fashion Exhibit

Milwaukee Art Museum
The MAM "Inspiring Beauty" exhibit is a re-creation of the pioneering fashion fair that helped redefine beauty, style, and empowerment for African American women everywhere.

The traveling exhibit on the Ebony Fashion Fair, now open at the Milwaukee Art Museum, shares an anniversary with the fashion program at Mount Mary University.

Thirteen of the garments on display at the art museum came from Mt. Mary’s historic costume collection. Lake Effect's Bonnie North spoke with the university's dean of the School of Arts and Design, Barbara Armstrong.

Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair exhibit is now on at the Milwaukee Art Museum and runs through early May.

Bonnie North
Bonnie joined WUWM in March 2006 as the Arts Producer of the locally produced weekday magazine program Lake Effect.
