New Indie Film Explores the 2009 Air France Crash

Pilot Error Moive

All evidence in the crash last week of a Germanwings airliner points to the co-pilot deliberately crashing the plane.  But before that evidence came to light, theories abounded about what caused the plane to crash into the French Alps.

In the case of a 2009 Air France flight which crashed en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, it turned out a combination of mechanical failure and poor pilot training was responsible.

The new indie film, Pilot Error, is based on that Air France crash, and by a book by Muskegon writer Roger Rapoport, called The Rio/Paris Crash.  The film changes some of the key settings in the story, and was filmed on location in Milwaukee and in Michigan.

It’ll show this evening in New Berlin – ahead of that screening, Roger Rapoport and Milwaukee actress Debra Staples joined Lake Effect's Bonnie North in the studio.  Rapoport explains what interested him in the story:

Pilot Error will screen this evening in New Berlin at the Ridge Cinema, with a talkback afterwards.  It shows Wednesday night in Madison.
