All evidence in the crash last week of a Germanwings airliner points to the co-pilot deliberately crashing the plane. But before that evidence came to light, theories abounded about what caused the plane to crash into the French Alps.
In the case of a 2009 Air France flight which crashed en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, it turned out a combination of mechanical failure and poor pilot training was responsible.
The new indie film, Pilot Error, is based on that Air France crash, and by a book by Muskegon writer Roger Rapoport, called The Rio/Paris Crash. The film changes some of the key settings in the story, and was filmed on location in Milwaukee and in Michigan.
It’ll show this evening in New Berlin – ahead of that screening, Roger Rapoport and Milwaukee actress Debra Staples joined Lake Effect's Bonnie North in the studio. Rapoport explains what interested him in the story:
