The new play after all the terrible things i do premiered at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater this week.
Playwright Rey Pamatmat was inspired by the It Gets Better campaign, which attracted a lot of attention to plight of LGBT teenagers and the bullying they often endure.
Pamatmat and director May Adrales joins Lake Effect’s Bonnie North. Pamatmat speaks about the development of the play, how it affected him, and the larger impact it has on audiences.
"I hope that this play will get people to have arguments, fights, conversations...to see the value in trying to actually understand the people that you oppose," Pamatmat says. "People who are nothing like you, people whose lives you could never experience, and to start making decisions as a society from that place because I think we've been losing that a little bit."
The play runs through November 9th at the Milwaukee Rep’s Stiemke Studio Theater.
